The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries met this day at 5:40 p.m. in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Gerald Comeau, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Butts, Comeau, Cook, Perrault, P.C., Robichaud, P.C. (Saint-Louis-de-Kent) and Stewart (6).

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Emery, Research Officer.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on April 27, 1999, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-27, An Act to amend the Coastal Fisheries Protection Act and the Canada Shipping Act to enable Canada to implement the Agreement for the Implementation of the Provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982 Relating to the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks and other international fisheries treaties or arrangements. At 9:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
