The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met this day at 3:20 p.m. in room 356-S of the Center Block, the Chairman, the Honourable John B. Stewart, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Di Nino, Grafstein, Stewart, Stollery and Whelan, P.C. (6).
Also present: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Mr. Peter Berg, Economics Division.
In Attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The Honourable Alexander Downer, Minister of Foreign Affairs;

From the High Commission of Australia in Canada:
His Excellency Greg Wood, High Commissioner.
The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference pertaining to relations between Canada and the Asia-Pacific region (see Committee proceedings of October 29, 1997, Issue No. 2).
The Honourable Alexander Downer made a presentation and answered questions.
At 3:39 p.m., the committee sits in camera.
At 4:13 p.m., the public meeting resumed.
At 4:40 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
