The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met, in camera, at 9:05 a.m. this day, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Rompkey, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, DeWare, Di Nino, Forrestall, Joyal, P.C., Losier-Cool, Nolin, Robichaud, P.C. ( Saint-Louis-de-Kent), Stollery, Rompkey. P.C. and Taylor (11).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Comeau, Gustafson, Hays, Kelly, Kenny, Lawson and Phillips (7).

In attendance: Mr. Paul Bélisle, Clerk of the Senate, and other Senate officials.

At 9:10 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera with senators only.

At 11:30 a.m., the committee resumed in public with senators and staff.

1998-11-19/224 -- Budget Application of the Social Affairs Committee (Veterans Affairs)

It was agreed that the budget application of the Social Affairs, Science and Technology Committee (state of health care) be adopted ($47, 630).

1998-11-19/225 -- Budget Application of Agriculture and Forestry Committee

It was agreed that the budget application of the Agriculture and Forestry Committee (future of agriculture in Canada) be adopted ($158, 100).

1998-11-19/226 -- Budget Application of Security and Intelligence

It was agreed that the budget application of the Special Committee on Security and Intelligence be adopted ($30,000).

1998-11-19/227 -- Services to Senator Ruck

It was agreed that a maximum of $2,000 be allocated from Senate Administration to provide special assistance to Senator Ruck when he travels to Prince Edward Island for meetings of the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee in December 1998.

At 12:10 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
