The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, met this day in Room 257, East Block, at 10:35 a.m., the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Lorna Milne, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carstairs, Cogger, Gigantès, Jessiman, Losier-Cool, Milne, Nolin, Pearson and Watt (9).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senator DeWare (1).
In attendance: Jamie Robertson, Monique Hébert, Research Officers, Research Branch of the Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 5, 1997, the committee commenced its consideration of Bill C-13, An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act.
APPEARING:
The Honourable Don Boudria, M.P., P.C., Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.
The Chairman made a statement.
Mr. Boudria made a statement and answered questions.
The Honourable Senator Pearson moved -- That Bill C-13 be reported to the Senate without amendment.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 22, 1997, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-220, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Copyright Act (profit from authorship respecting a crime). (See Issue No. 1, Wednesday, October 29, 1997, for full text of Order of Reference.)

The witnesses answered questions.
