The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, met this day in Room 257, East Block, at 3:38 p.m., the Chairman, the Honourable Lorna Milne, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bryden, Cogger, Gigantès, Lewis, Milne and Pépin (7).
In attendance: Mary Hurley, Research Officer, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, February 18, 1998, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-18, An Act to amend the Customs Act and the Criminal Code. (See Issue No. 15, Wednesday, February 18, 1998 for full text of Order of Reference.)
