The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, met this day in Room 257, East Block, at 11:02 a.m., the Chair, the Honourable Lorna Milne, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Beaudoin, Bryden, Joyal, P.C., Milne, Moore, Nolin and Pépin (8).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Adams and Pearson (2).

In attendance: Mary Hurley and Nancy Holmes, Research Officers, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the Orders of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 10, 1998, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-57, An Act to amend the Nunavut Act with respect to the Nunavut Court of Justice and to amend other Acts in consequence. (For full text of Order of Reference, please see Issue No.52, Thursday, February 4, 1999.)
