The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, met this day, in Room 257, East Block, at 10:08 a.m., the Honourable Lorna Milne, Chair, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Beaudoin, Bryden, Carstairs, Fraser, Lewis, Milne, Moore and Pearson (9).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Grafstein and LeBreton (2).
In attendance: Nancy Holmes and Marilyn Pilon, Research Officers, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, June 14, 1999, the committee commenced its consideration of Bill C-82, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (impaired driving and related matters).

The Honourable Anne McLellan made a statement and, together with Yvan Roy and Hal Pruden, answered questions.
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Carstairs -- That the committee dispense with clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-82, an Act to amend the Criminal Code (impaired driving and related matters), and report to the Senate without amendment.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The Honourable Senator LeBreton made a statement.
At 12:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
