The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs met at 9:05 a.m. this day in Room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Orville H. Phillips, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Cools, Forest and Jessiman, Phillips (5).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Prud'homme, Kelly (2).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament, Grant Purves, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Orders of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 25, 1997 and by the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology on November 25, 1997, the subcommittee continued its examination on the future of the Canadian War Museum. (See Proceedings of the Subcommittee dated February 2, 1998, Issue No. 3)
Mr. Kobolac made a statement and, with Mr. Daly, answered questions from the members of the subcommittee.
Mr. Inrig and Mr. Khan made a statement and answered questions from the members of the subcommittee.
At 10:25 a.m., the subcommittee suspended its sitting.
At 10:40 a.m., the subcommittee resumed its sitting.
Mr. Chadderton with Mr. Forbes made statement and answered questions from members of the subcommittee.
Mr. Tracy made a statement and answered questions from members of the subcommittee.
At 12:47 p.m., the subcommittee suspended its sitting until 1:30 p.m.

Senator Phillips read an unsigned statement submitted to the subcommittee.
Mr. Farthing made a statement and answered questions from members of the subcommittee.
Mr. Peate and Mr. Bordeleau made a statement and answered questions from members of the subcommittee.
Brigadier General Doyle made a statement and answered questions from members of the subcommittee.
Mrs. Jean-Gogan made a statement and answered questions from members of the subcommittee.
Mr. Harold Leduc made a statement and answered questions from members of the subcommittee.
On behalf of Mr. W. E. (Bill) Mayne, Mr. Cliff Chadderton made a statement and answered questions.
Mr. Chadderton agreed to submit a copy of the letter from Mr. Don Ives of the Department of Veterans Affairs to the Friends of the Canadian War Museum.
Mr. Jan DeVries made a statement and, along with Mr. Roy Anderson, answered questions.
Mrs. Raquel Chisholm and Ms Jane Peterson presented a video and made a statement and answered questions.
