The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 9:06 a.m. in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Fairbairn, P.C., Ferretti Barth, Fitzpatrick, Gill, Gustafson, Oliver, Robichaud, P.C. (Saint-Louis-de-Kent), Rossiter, St. Germain, P.C. and Stratton (10).

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Research Officer.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESS:

From the National Farmers Union:

Mr. Darrin Qualman, Executive Secretary.

Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and the future of agriculture in Canada, consideration of farm income issues.

Mr. Darrin Qualman made a presentation and answered questions.

At 10:43 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
