The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 9:04 a.m. in room 705, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Senator Joyce Fairbairn, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Chalifoux, Fairbairn, P.C., Gill, Oliver, Robichaud, P.C. (Saint-Louis-de-Kent), Rossiter, Sparrow, St. Germain, P.C., Stratton and Wiebe (11).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Research Officer.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESSES:
From the Canadian Federation of Agriculture:
Mr. Bob Friesen, President;
Mr. Benoît Basillais, Policy Analyst.
Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and the future of agriculture in Canada, consideration of farm income issues.
Mr. Friesen made a statement and, with Mr. Basillais, answered questions.
At 10:54 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
