The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 9:35 a.m., this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Lowell Murray, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Cools, Doody, Ferretti Barth, Finestone, Finnerty, Mahovlich, Moore, Stratton, Murray, P.C. (10).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Banks and Prud'homme.

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Officer, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

APPEARING:

The Honourable Lucienne Robillard, P.C., M.P., President of Treasury Board

WITNESSES:

Richard J. Neville, Deputy Comptroller General of Canada;

Andrew Lieff, Senior Directeor, Expenditure Operations and Estimates Division, Planning, Performance and Reporting Sector.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on March 2, 2000, the Committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2001.

The witnesses made their presentation and answered questions from members of the committee.

At 10:56 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
