The Standing Committee on Privileges, Standing Rules and Orders met at 4:30 p.m. this day, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable Senator Grimard, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beaudoin, DeWare, Grimard, Joyal, P.C., Kinsella, Kroft, Robichaud, P.C. (L'Acadie-Acadia ) and Rossiter (8).

In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESS:

Dr. Shiv Chopra, B.V.Sc. M..Sc., Ph.D.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of the question of privilege raised by Senator Kinsella and referred to the committee on October 13, 1999.

The Clerk of the Committee administered the oath/solemn affirmation and declaration to the witness, pursuant to section 13 of the Parliament of Canada Act.

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:33 p.m., the meeting adjourned to the call of the Chair.
