The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this, at 5:35 p.m. in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Biron, Day, Chalifoux, Gustafson, Hubley, Phalen, Stratton and Wiebe (8).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Murray, P.C. and Sparrow (2).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, June 11, 2001 the committee continued consideration of of Bill S-22, An Act to provide for the recognition of the Canadien Horse as the national horse of Canada.

Kelly Ferguson made an opening statement and answered questions with Alex Hayward.
Danton Wilson and Regent Lalonde made an opening statement and answered questions.
Darkise St-Arnaud made an opening statement and answered questions with Yves Bernatchez and André Auclair.
The committee recessed at 7:10 p.m.
The committee resumed at 7:15 p.m.
The Honourable Senator Wiebe moved - That Senator Chalifoux replace Senator Fairbairn as a member of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
At 7:18 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
