The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day, at 8:33 a.m. in camera, pursuant to Rule 92(2)(f), in room 705, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Senator Jack Wiebe, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Biron, Day, Fraser, Hubley, LaPierre, Stratton, Tkachuk, Tunney and Wiebe (9).

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge and Lorie Srivastava.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 20, 2001 the committee continued to examine international trade in agricultural and agri-food products, and short-term and long-term measures for the health of the agricultural and the agri-food industry in all regions of Canada (For complete text of Order of Reference see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2).

The committee reviewed its draft interim report entitled ``Canadian Farmers at Risk.''

The Honourable Senator Hubley moved — That the committee adopt the draft report and that the Chair and Deputy Chair be authorized to make minor spelling and stylistic changes, without affecting the substantive content and,

That the report be tabled in the Senate by the Chair at the earliest opportunity.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 9:11 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
