(7) [English] The Standing Committee on Banking, Trade and commerce met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Kolber, presiding. Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Banks, Kelleher, P.C., Kolber, Kroft, Meighen, Oliver, Poulin, Setlakwe and Tkachuk (10). In attendance: Mr. Stephen L. Harris, and from the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament, Law and Government Division: Mr. Geoff Kieley, Research Officer. Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate. WITNESSES: From the Bank of Canada: Mr. David Dodge, Governor; Mr. Malcolm Knight, Senior Deputy Governor. Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 20, 2001, the Committee began its examination into the present state of the domestic and international financial system. Mr. Dodge made a statement and Mr. Knight answered questions. At 6:00 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair. ATTEST:
