The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 5:45 p.m., this day, in Room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Lowell Murray presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Bolduc, Cools, Doody, Ferretti Barth, Finnerty, Kinsella, Murray, Stratton, Tunney (10).
Other senators present: Honourable Senators Gustafson, Grafstein, Spivak.
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Officer, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Denis Desautels, Auditor General;
Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General, Audit Operations Branch;
Neil Maxwell, Principal.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on March 1, 2001, the committee continued its examination of the expenditures set out in the Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2002.
Mr. Desautels made an opening statement and with Ms Barrados and Mr. Maxwell answered questions from committee members.
At 7:44 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
