The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 9:32 a.m. this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Murray, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Bolduc, Comeau, Cools, Doody, Ferretti Barth, Finnerty, Kinsella, Mahovlich, Murray, P.C., Stratton, Tunney (12).

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Officer, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on March 6, 2002, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003.

WITNESSES:

From the National Capital Commission:

Mr. Marcel Beaudry, Chairman;

Mr. Curry Wood, Vice-President, Capital Planning and Information Management Branch;

Ms Micheline Dubé, Vice-President, Corporate and Information Management Services Branch.

The committee began examination of the operations and budget of the National Capital Commission.

Mr. Beaudry made an opening statement and, with Ms Dubé, answered questions from members of the committee.

At 11:15 a.m., the committee continued its sitting in camera.

The committee undertook discussion of its study and draft budget on the administrative contract at the Goose Bay, Labrador Airfield.

After discussion, it was moved by the Honourable Senator Ferretti Barth — That the Committee concur in the following budget application for the purpose of its consideration of the administrative contract of the Goose Bay Labrador Airfield, and that the Chair submit the said budget to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration for approval:

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 11:29 a.m., committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
