The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met this day at 7:05 p.m., in Room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Peter A. Stollery, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Bolduc, Carney, P.C., Corbin, DeBané, P.C., Graham, P.C., Setlakwe and Stollery (8).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg and John Wright, Research Officers.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESSES:
From the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA):
Mr. Peter Daniel, Vice President, Central and Eastern Europe Branch;
Mr. Rick Ward, Director General, Russia, Ukraine and Nuclear Programmes Division, Central and Eastern Europe Branch.
The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference pertaining to its study on developments in Russia and the Ukraine (See committee proceedings of March 13, 2001, Issue No. 1).
Mr. Daniel made a statement and, with Mr. Ward, answered questions.
At 8:53 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 8:55 p.m., the committee resumed in camera to discuss future business.
It was agreed - That a proposed Order of Reference would be considered by the Steering Committee.
At 9:10 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
