The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communica tions met this day at 5:35 p.m., in Room 256-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Lise Bacon, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Bacon, Callbeck, Eyton, Gill, Gustafson, LaPierre, Morin, Oliver and Setlakwe (10).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Forrestall and Kenny (2).
In attendance: Joseph Dion, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on May 30, 2001, the committee proceeded to study Bill C-14. (See Issue No. 10, Wednesday, June 6, 2001, for full text of the Order of Reference.)

The Honourable Senator Eyton moved - That The Honourable Senator Oliver be Deputy Chair of this Committee.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The witnesses made a presentation and answered questions.
The Canadian Maritime Law Association and the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association, Inc. submitted a brief.
At 7:06 p.m., It was agreed - That the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
