The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 5:36 p.m., in room 256-S, Centre Block, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Donald Oliver, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Biron, Callbeck, Forrestall, Jaffer, Oliver and Phalen (7).

In attendance: Joseph Dion, Researcher for the Library of Parliament and Martin Brennan, Special Advisor to the Committee.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on September 26, 2001, the committee proceeded with the examination of issues facing the intercity busing industry (See Issue No. 21, Monday, February 11, 2002, Tuesday, February 12, 2002, Wednesday, February 13, 2002, for full text of the Order of Reference).

WITNESSES:

From the Canadian Transport Lawyers Association:

David Blair, Lawyer, Gagné Letarte;

Dean Saul, Lawyer, Gowling Lafleur Henderson.

The witnesses from the Canadian Transport Lawyers Association made a presentation and answered questions.

The Canadian Transport Lawyers Association submitted a brief.

At 7:07 p.m., it was agreed — That the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
