The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:33 a.m., in room 256-S, Centre Block, the Acting Chair, the Honourable Catherine S. Callbeck, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Biron, Callbeck, Jaffer, Oliver, Phalen and Spivak (7).
In attendance: Joseph Dion, Researcher for the Library of Parliament and Martin Brennan, Special Advisor to the Committee.
Also in attendance: The official reporters for the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on June 5, 2001, the committee proceeded to study Bill S- 26. (See Issue No. 31, Tuesday, June 4, 2002 and Wednesday, June 5, 2002, for full text of the Order of Reference.)
WITNESS:
From the Canadian Marine Manufacturers Association:
Mr. J. A. (Sandy) Currie, Executive Director.
Mr. Currie made a presentation and answered questions.
The Canadian Marine Manufacturers Association submitted a brief.
It was agreed — That the Committee forward written questions to the witness seeking technical data on current personal watercraft models.
It was agreed to table documents, letters of support and petitions on Bill S-26, from Senator Spivak's Office. The exhibit was filed as exhibit no. 5900-1.37/T1-S-26, 32 ``1''.
At 11:00 a.m., it was agreed — That the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Callbeck, Gustafson, LaPierre, Oliver and Phalen (6).
In attendance: Joseph Dion, Researcher for the Library of Parliament and Martin Brennan, Special Advisor to the Committee.
Also in attendance: The official reporters for the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on September 26, 2001, the committee proceeded with the examination of issues facing the intercity busing industry. (See Issue No. 21, Monday, February 11, 2002, Tuesday, February 12, 2002, Wednesday, February 13, 2002, for full text of the Order of Reference.)

Mr. Carl Neggers, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Planning Division.
From the Saskatchewan Transportation Company:

Mr. Neggers and Mr. Hadfield each made a presentation and, together, the witnesses answered questions.
The Departement of Transport — Saskatchewan submitted a brief.
