The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met at 5:36 p.m., this day, in Room 356-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Donald H. Oliver, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Day, Fairbairn, P.C., Gustafson, Hubley, Oliver and Wiebe (7).

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marc Leblanc; and Jean-Denis Fréchette.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 11, 2003, the committee continued to consider issues related to the development and domestic and international marketing of value-added agricultural, agri-food and forest products. (For a complete text of Order of Reference see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 18.)

WITNESSES:

From the Canada Beef Export Federation:

Ted Haney, President.

The Chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Haney made a presentation and answered questions.

At 5:55 p.m., Senator Wiebe assumed the Chair.

At 7:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
