The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, to which was referred Bill C-227, respecting a national day of remembrance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, met this day at 1:22 p.m. to give consideration to the bill.

The Chairman: Honourable senators, I call the meeting to order.

Senator Day, please proceed with the report of the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs on Bill C-227.

Senator Day: Honourable senators, I have the honour to report that the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs recommends that Bill C-227 be reported to the Senate without amendment but with observations. I will work out the observations with you at the conclusion of this meeting.

Senator Kenny: Any there any comments? Could an honourable senator please move adoption of the report?

Senator Atkins: I so move.

Senator Kenny: With a show of hands, honourable senators, all those in favour? All those not in favour? All those abstaining? The motion is carried.

Is there any other business before this committee?
