Resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Poulin, seconded by the Honourable Senator Poy, for the second reading of Bill C-227, An Act respecting a national day of remembrance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

After debate,

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Bill was then read the second time.

The Honourable Senator Poulin moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Rompkey, P.C., that the Bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted on division.

It was moved by the Honourable Senator Atkins, — That the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs be authorised to examine, consider clause-by-clause, and report to the Committee on Bill C-227, An Act respecting a national day of remembrance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, which was referred to the Committee by the Senate on Wednesday, March 26, 2003.
