The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day in camera, at 10 a.m. in room 160-S (Subcommittee Room), the Chair, the Honourable Colin Kenny, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Atkins, Cordy, Day, Forrestall, Kenny, Meighen, Smith, P.C. and Wiebe (8).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: Grant Dawson, Analyst; Major General (Ret'd) Keith McDonald, Senior Military Adviser; Superintendent Gerry Doucet, RCMP Liaison Officer; Commander Gerry Powell, DND Liaison Officer; Veronica Morris, Communications Officer.
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Meighen, — That the following supplementary budget application for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004 be concurred in, and, — That the Chair submit same to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Atkins, Banks, Cordy, Day, Forrestall, Kenny, Meighen and Wiebe (8).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: Grant Dawson, Wolfgang Koerner and Steven McGuire, Analysts; Major General (Ret'd) Keith McDonald, Senior Military Adviser; Superintendent Gerry Doucet, RCMP Liaison Officer; Commander Gerry Powell, DND Liaison Officer; Veronica Morris, Communications Officer.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, September 18, 2003, the committee continues its study on veterans services and benefits, commemorative activities and Veterans Charters. (See Issue No. 24, Wednesday, October 1, 2003 for the full text of the Order of Reference.)
In accordance with rule 92(2)(f) the committee proceeded to consider the report of the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs.
The Honourable Senator Meighen moved, — That the report of the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs be adopted and — That Senator Meighen table the report in the Chamber on Tuesday November 4, 2003.
At 5:22 p.m., in accordance with rule 92(2)(f) the committee considered its draft report.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 6:23 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
