The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met at 5:49 p.m. this day, in room 257 East Block, the Chair, the Honourable Tommy Banks, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Buchanan, Christensen, Cochrane, Finnerty, Merchant and Milne (7).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lynne Myers, Researcher, Science and Technology Division.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2002, the committee continued its examination of emerging issues related to its mandate (implementation of the Kyoto Protocol). WITNESSES:
From the Canadian Gas Association:
Mr. Michael Cleland, President;
Mr. Brendan Hawley, Communications and Marketing Management.
Mr. Cleland made a statement and together with Mr. Hawley, the witnesses answered questions.
At 7 p.m., pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the committee proceeded in camera for the consideration of a draft agenda.
At 7:15 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
