The Standing Senate Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met at 9:34 a.m. this day, the Chair, Honourable Lise Bacon, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Atkins, Bacon, Cook, Gauthier, Gill, Kinsella, Massicotte, Munson, Poulin and Stratton (10).
In attendance: Mr. Paul C Bélisle, Clerk of the Senate, other senior Senate officials.
The Clerk of the Senate and Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair.
IE/2004-02-05/001 — Election of Chair
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Kinsella that the Honourable Senator Bacon be elected Chair of the Committee.
The question being put on the motion, it was — Resolved in the affirmative.
IE/2004-02-05/002 — Election of Deputy Chair
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Poulin that the Honourable Senator Robertson be elected Deputy Chair of the Committee.
The question being put on the motion, it was — Resolved in the affirmative.
IE/2004-02-05/003 — Motion to print committee proceedings
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Stratton that the Committee print 200 copies of its Proceedings.
The question being put on the motion, it was — Resolved in the affirmative.
IE/2004-02-05/004 — Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure (Steering Committee)
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Massicotte that the membership on the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure (Steering Committee) be composed of the Honourable Senators Bacon (Chair), Gill, and Robertson (Deputy Chair).
The question being put on the motion, it was — Resolved in the affirmative.
IE/2004-02-05/005 — Joint Inter-Parliamentary Council
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Kinsella that the Senate membership on the Joint Inter-Parliamentary Council be composed of the Honourable Senators Bacon (Chair), Gill, and Robertson (Deputy Chair).
The question being put on the motion, it was — Resolved in the affirmative.
It was agreed that the committee would, at a future date, have a discussion regarding parliamentary associations.
At 9:40 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera.
At 9:51 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
