The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day in camera, at 8:10 a.m., in the Gibraltar Room, Four Points Hotel Kingston, the Chair, the Honourable Colin Kenny, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Cordy, Day, Forrestall, Kenny and Munson (6).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: William Price, Analyst; Major General (Ret'd) Keith McDonald, Senior Military Advisor; Barry Denofsky, National Security Advisor; Veronica Morris, Communications Officer; Captain (N) Kenneth Stewart, DND Liaison Officer; and Sergeant Harold O'Connell, RCMP Liaison Officer.
In accordance with rule 92(2)(e), the committee considered its draft agenda.
At 8:56 a.m., the committee suspended its sitting.
At 9:03 a.m., the committee resumed its sitting in public.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, the committee continued its examination on the need for a national security policy for Canada. (See Issue No.1, Monday, October 25, 2004 of the Committee's Proceedings for the full text of the Order of Reference.)
