The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day in camera, at 8:10 a.m., in the Ontario Room, Windsor Hilton, Windsor, the Chair, the Honourable Colin Kenny, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Atkins, Banks, Cordy, Forrestall, Kenny, Meighen and Munson (7).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: William Price, Analyst; Major General (Ret'd) Keith McDonald, Senior Military Advisor; Barry Denofsky, National Security Advisor; Veronica Morris, Communications Officer; Captain (N) Kenneth Stewart, DND Liaison Officer; and Sergeant Harold O'Connell, RCMP Liaison Officer.
In accordance with rule 92(2)(e), the committee considered its draft agenda.
At 8:48 a.m., the committee suspended its sitting.
At 9:07 a.m., the committee resumed its sitting in public in the Dieppe Room A, Cleary Centre, Windsor.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, the committee continued its examination on the need for a national security policy for Canada. (See Issue No.1, Monday, October 25, 2004, of the Committee's Proceedings for the full text of the Order of Reference.)

Mark Norman, President of Daimler-Chrysler and Chair of the Infrastructure Committee.
The Chair made an opening statement.
Mario Iatonna, Shelby Slater, Kirk Steudle and Bruce McCuaig each made a presentation and answered questions.
At 10:53 a.m., the committee suspended its sitting.
At 11:15 a.m., the committee resumed its sitting
Bob Keyes and Mark Norman each made a presentation and answered questions.
At 12:37 p.m., the committee suspended its sitting.
At 12:52 p.m., the committee resumed its sitting in camera to discuss its draft agenda pursuant to rule 92(2)(e).
At 1:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
