The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day, at 10:52 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald J. Comeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Comeau, Hubley, Johnson, Mahovlich, Merchant and Watt (7).
In attendance: Claude Emery, Research Analyst, Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 28, 2004, the committee continued its examination of issues relating to the federal government's new and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. (For complete text of Order of Reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1, dated October 7, 2004.)

The Chair informed the committee of the unavoidable absence of the scheduled witnesses.
It was agreed that the committee proceed in camera pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), to consider a draft report.
At 12:11 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day, in camera, at 7:03 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald J. Comeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Comeau, Hubley, Mahovlich and Watt (5).
In attendance: Jessica Richardson, Legislative Clerk, Committees Directorate, the Senate; and Claude Emery, Research Analyst, Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 28, 2004, the committee continued its examination of issues relating to the federal government's new and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee considered a draft report.
It was moved that the committee adopt the report and that the Chair and Deputy Chair be authorized to make minor corrections without substantially affecting the content.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 7:56 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
