The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met at 9:33 a.m. this day, in room 160-S Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Gerry St. Germain, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dyck, Gill, Gustafson, Hubley, Lovelace Nicholas, Peterson, Sibbeston, St. Germain, P.C., and Watt. (9).

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament, Lisa L. Patterson.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, the committee continued its study on the nature and status of the Government of Canada's Specific Claims policy. (See Issue No. 3, Tuesday, June 13, 2006, for the full text of the Order of Reference.)

WITNESS:

Mamuitun Tribal Council:

Denis Brassard, Specific Claims Coordinator.

The Chair made opening remarks.

Mr. Brassard made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:20 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.

At 7:41 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:45 p.m., the committee resumed.

Ms. Dupuis made a statement and answered questions.

At 8:20 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
