The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met at 4:07 p.m., this day, in room 9, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Jerahmiel S. Grafstein, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Baker, C.P., Biron, Eyton, Fitzpatrick, Goldstein, Grafstein, Massicotte, Meighen and Moore (10).

In attendance: June Dewetering and Philippe Bergevin, Analysts, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on February 28, 2007, the committee began its study of the Bill C-26, to amend the Criminal Code (criminal interest rate).
