Extract from the Journals of the Senate of Thursday, June 22, 2006:

Resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Ringuette, seconded by the Honourable Senator Moore, for the second reading of Bill S-201, An Act to amend the Public Service Employment Act (elimination of bureaucratic patronage and geographic criteria in appointment processes).

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The bill was then read the second time.

The Honourable Senator Ringuette moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Cook, that the bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance.

Extract from the Journals of the Senate of Wednesday, September 27, 2006:

The Honourable Senator Nancy Ruth, for the Honourable Senator Day, moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Stratton:

That the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance be authorized to examine and report on issues relating to the vertical and horizontal fiscal balances among the various orders of government in Canada; and

That the committee report no later than June 30, 2007.
