The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day, at 9 a.m., in the Mackenzie Room of the Delta Edmonton Centre Suites, the Chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Carstairs, P.C., Lovelace Nicholas, Munson, Nancy Ruth and Poy (6).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Mitchell and Tardif (2).
In attendance: Laura Barnett, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 27, 2006, the committee proceeded to its consideration of Canada's international obligations in regard to the rights and freedoms of children.
