The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day, at 1:01 p.m., in room Hochelaga 4, Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Sharon Carstairs, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carstairs, P.C., Dallaire, Munson, Nancy Ruth, Pépin and Poy (6).

In attendance: Laura Barnett, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 27, 2006, the committee continued its consideration of Canada's international obligations in regard to the rights and freedoms of children. (For complete text of Order of Reference see Proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)
