The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 10:50 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the Honourable Donald H. Oliver, Chair, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Baker, P.C., Banks, Bryden, Jaffer, Joyal, P.C., Nolin, Oliver, Stratton and Zimmer (10).
In attendance: Margaret Young and Wade Riordan Raaflaub, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-9, amend the Criminal Code (conditional sentence of imprisonment).

It was agreed that the committee proceed with the scheduled witnesses for Wednesday, May 2, 2007.
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause by clause consideration of Bill C-9, to amend the Criminal Code (conditional sentence of imprisonment) next Thursday, May 3, 2007.
At 1:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
