Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Thursday, June 8, 2006:

Resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Segal, seconded by the Honourable Senator Keon:

That whenever the Senate is sitting, the proceedings of the upper chamber, like those of the lower one, be televised, or otherwise audio-visually recorded, so that those proceedings can be carried live or replayed on CPAC, or any other television station, at times that are convenient for Canadians;

And on the motion of the Honourable Senator Munson, seconded by the Honourable Senator Peterson, that the question be referred to the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedure and the Rights of Parliament.

Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Thursday, September 28, 2006:

The Honourable Senator Segal moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Cochrane:

That the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament be authorized to examine and report on the following:

That rule 86(1)(h) of the Rules of the Senate be amended to read:

``The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, composed of twelve members, four of whom shall constitute a quorum, to which shall be referred, if there is a motion to that effect, bills, messages, petitions, inquiries, papers and other matters relating to foreign and Commonwealth relations generally, including:

(i) treaties and international agreements;

(ii) external trade;

(iii) foreign aid;

(iv) territorial and offshore matters.''
