The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met in camera this day, at 9:38 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the Honourable Lise Bacon, Chair, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bacon, Dawson, Eyton, Mercer, Munson, Phalen, Tkachuk and Zimmer (8).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Terrence Thomas, Analyst.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 8, 2007, the committee continued its consideration of the objectives, operation and governance of the Canadian Television Fund. (For complete text of Order of Reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 8.)
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to attend the in camera meeting.
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee proceeded to consider a draft report.
At 10:15 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Bacon, Dawson, Fox, P.C., Johnson, Munson, Tkachuk and Zimmer (8).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Terrence Thomas, Analyst.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, the committee began its consideration of the government response to the Report on the Canadian News Media.
APPEARING:
The Honourable Bev Oda, P.C., M.P., Minister of Canadian Heritage.
WITNESSES:
Jean-Pierre Blais, Assistant Deputy Minister, Cultural Affairs;
Amanda Cliff, Director General, Broadcasting Policy and Programs Branch.
Ms. Oda made an opening statement and, together with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 7:50 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 8, 2007, the committee continued its consideration of the objectives, operation and governance of the Canadian Television Fund. (For complete text of Order of Reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 8.)
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to attend the in camera meeting.
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee proceeded to consider a draft report.
It was moved that the report be adopted and that the steering committee be authorized to make minor changes without altering the content of the report.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 11 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
