The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day, at 6:33 p.m., in room 256-S, Centre Block, the Honourable Lise Bacon, Chair, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Bacon, Carney, P.C., Eyton, Munson, Phalen, Tkachuk and Zimmer (8).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Di Nino (1).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, Mach 28, 2007, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-11, to amend the Canada Transportation Act and the Railway Safety Act and to make consequential amendments to other acts.

The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, P.C., M.P., Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities.
WITNESSES:

The Minister made an opening statement and, together with the other witnesses, answered questions.
