The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met at 4:10 p.m., this day, in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable W. David Angus, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Eyton, Goldstein, Harb, Jaffer, Massicotte, Meighen, Moore and Tkachuk (9).
In attendance: June Dewetering and Philippe Bergevin, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, the committee continued its study of the present state of the domestic and international financial system. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 3.)

Mr. Boyko made a statement and answered questions.

Mr. Leonard and Mr. Ward each made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:41 p.m., the committee resumed.
The Honourable Senator Goldstein noted for the record that he is a member of the International Insolvency Institute, which was god-fathered and fathered by Bruce Leonard, who was also the god-father and father of the international model law on which he is going to speak.
Mr. Spergel and Mrs. Houle each made a statement and answered questions.
At 6:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
