The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day, at 5:55 p.m., in room 160- S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Consiglio Di Nino, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Corbin, Dawson, Di Nino, Mahovlich, Smith, P.C., and Stollery (6).
In attendance: Peter Berg, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, the committee continued examination on the rise of China, India and Russia in the global economy and the implications for Canadian policy. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 6.)
WITNESS:

Mr. Westdal made a statement and answered questions.
At 7:25 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 22, 2007, the committee continued to examine such issues as may arise from time to time relating to foreign relations generally. Robert Greenhill, President.
Allan Culham, Acting Vice-President, Pan-Geographic.
The chair made a statement.
Mr. Greenhill made a presentation and answered questions.
It was agreed that the committee would send questions prepared by the Library of Parliament to the department for a written response.
