The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:02 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Ethel Cochrane, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cochrane, Dallaire, Greene, Hubley, MacDonald, Manning, Patterson, Poy, Robichaud, P.C., and Watt (10).
In attendance: Claude Emery, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 12, 2009, the committee continued to examine the issues relating to the federal government's current and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)
TOPIC: Matters related to the Canadian Coast Guard in the Western Arctic.

Commodore J.E.T.P. Ellis, Director General, Maritime Force Development;
Captain (Navy) E.G. Bramwell, Project Manager, Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship.
Mr. Ellis made a statement and, together with Mr. Bramwell, answered questions.
