The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 6:08 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Senator Consiglio Di Nino, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Corbin, Dawson, Di Nino, Downe, Fortin-Duplessis, Grafstein, Segal, Stollery and Wallin (10).
In attendance: Natalie Mychajlyszyn and Jennifer Paul, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, the committee continued its examination on the rise of China, India and Russia in the global economy and the implications for Canadian policy. (For complete text of order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 3.)
WITNESSES:

David Stewart-Patterson, Executive Vice-President;
Sam Boutziouvis, Vice-President, Economics and International Trade.
Mr. Stewart-Patterson made a statement and together with Mr. Boutziouvis, answered questions.
At 7:04 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:06 p.m., the committee resumed and pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, it continued its consideration of the 2008 Legislative Review of Export Development Canada, tabled in the Senate on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. (For complete text of order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft report.
It was agreed that the draft report be adopted and that the chair present the report to the Senate.
It was agreed that the clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.
At 7:10 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
