The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 4:30 p.m., in room 160- S, Centre Block, the acting chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Dawson, Jaffer, Mahovlich, Smith, P.C., Stewart Olsen and Wallin (7).
In attendance: Jennifer Paul, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
The committee proceeded to the election of an acting chair.
The Honourable Senator Smith moved that the Honourable Senator Dawson be acting chair.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, the committee continued its examination on the rise of China, India and Russia in the global economy and the implications for Canadian policy.
