The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day at 10 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Brazeau, Jaffer, Mitchell, Munson and Nancy Ruth (6).
In attendance: Julian Walker and Allison Goody, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, the committee continued its examination of issues relating to human rights and, inter alia, to review the machinery of government dealing with Canada's international and national human rights obligations. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 3.)

Mr. Haeri and Ms. Tavares each made an opening statement and, together, answered questions.
At 11:06 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:16 a.m., the committee resumed.
Ms. White, Ms. Alton, Mr. Wodzicki and Ms. Solon-Helal each made an opening statement and, together, answered questions.
At 12:21 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
