The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 5:02 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Duffy, Eaton, Lovelace Nicholas, Mahovlich, Marshall, Mercer, Merchant, Mockler, Ogilvie, Plett, Rivard and Robichaud, P.C. (12).
In attendance: Mathieu Frigon and David Surprenant, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament and Mona Ishack, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the committee continued its consideration of the current state and future of Canada's forest sector. (For complete text of order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

Forest Products Association of Canada:
Avrim Lazar, President and CEO.
Quebec Forest Industry Council:
Guy Chevrette, President and Chief Executive Officer and Communications Director;
Yves Lachapelle, Special Adviser, Strategic Issues.
Mr. Lazar and Mr. Chevrette each made opening statements and, together with Mr. Lachapelle, answered questions.
At 7 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
