The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 6:05 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Duffy, Fairbairn, P.C., Mahovlich, Mercer, Mockler, Ogilvie, Plett, Rivard and Robichaud, P.C. (9).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Finley (1).

In attendance: Mathieu Frigon and David Surprenant, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the committee continued its consideration of the current state and future of Canada's forest sector. (For complete text of order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1)

WITNESSES:

Canadian Electricity Association:

Cara Clairman, Vice-President, Sustainable Development, Ontario Power Generation.

Canadian Bioenergy Association:

Christopher Rees, Director for Ontario.

Ms. Clairman and Mr. Rees each made opening statements and, together, answered questions.

At 7:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
