The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 6:11 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Bill Rompkey, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cochrane, Downe, MacDonald, Manning, Nancy Ruth, Patterson, Poirier, Poy, Raine, Rompkey, P.C., and Watt (11).
Also present: Claude Emery, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Ceri Au, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the committee continued to examine issues relating to the federal government's current and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the committee continued to examine issues relating to the federal government's current and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee considered a draft budget.
After debate, it was agreed that the following special study supplementary budget application (policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans), for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011, be adopted and submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budget and Administration:
