The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:10 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Dennis Glen Patterson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cochrane, Hubley, Losier-Cool, MacDonald, Manning, Nancy Ruth, Patterson, Poirier, Poy and Raine (10).

In attendance: Claude Emery, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the committee continued to examine issues relating to the federal government's current and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. WITNESSES:

Environment Canada:

Dave Wartman, Director, Atmospheric Monitoring, Meteorological Service of Canada;

Michael Crowe, Director, Strategic Integration Division, Meteorological Service of Canada.

Mr. Wartman made a statement and, together with Mr. Crowe, answered questions.

At 6:10 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 6:18 p.m., pursuant to rule 92(2)f), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

At 7:11 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
