The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera this day at 7:02 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Bill Rompkey, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cochrane, Hubley, MacDonald, Manning, Nancy Ruth, Patterson, Poirier, Raine, Rompkey, P.C., and Watt (10).
In attendance: Claude Emery, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Ceri Au, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the committee continued to examine issues relating to the federal government's current and evolving policy framework for managing Canada's fisheries and oceans. Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee considered a draft report.
After debate, it was agreed that the draft report entitled Seeing the Light: Report on Staffed Lighthouses in Newfoundland and Labrador and British Columbia be adopted as amended and that the Subcommittee on agenda and procedure be authorized to approve the final version of the report taking into account the changes discussed today.
At 8:50 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
